The online Associate of Science in Behavioral Science is designed to maximize the development of student potential and prepare graduates for the wide variety of career paths in behavioral science, whether they are looking for a short-term credential for immediate employment in the field, interested in transferring to a four-year institution for further study, or both. Courses are taught by highly trained, extensively experienced faculty, most of whom are licensed in the mental health field, enabling them to guide students in gaining
the skills employers are seeking.
The degree’s interdisciplinary nature exposes students to a variety of approaches to studying human behavior and culture, social and cultural relationships, and methods for addressing potential bias in oneself and others. With options in psychology, sociology, or case management, students can specialize in coursework that best supports their goals and obtain experience in effective research methods, critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and professional written and interpersonal communication.
- The psychology option is ideal for those interested in how the mind works and want a better understanding of why people behave the way they do.
- The sociology option is ideal for those interested in how society works, current social issues, social behavior and change, and how social institutions, patterns, and context affect behavior and social justice.
- The case management option integrates academic preparation in behavioral health and human services with a supervised internship through a partnership with Lighthouse Behavioral Health, ensuring students gain structured, in-person field experience that enhances applied learning and strengthens job readiness.
